Obituary for Kenneth Branstetter

Kenneth Branstetter, 96-year-old Vinita resident, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was born on September 30, 1921 in Arnett, Oklahoma to Louis and Anna Bell (Farris) Branstetter. He married Hallie Mavontiene McMillan on August 11, 1945 in Oswego, Kansas, they celebrated 72 years of marriage last year. Kenneth served his country during WW II in the Phillipines. He was a member of the Four-Square Church. Kenneth was elected and served as the Craig County Assessor from 1971-1985. He also was a farmer-stockman, raising Gelbvieh cattle. Kenneth loved to fish and went to Toledo Bend lake every year to catch crappie. He was a member of the American Legion Dale Peace Post #40 in Vinita.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Mavontiene on September 16, 2017, a son, Leeroy Branstetter on November 26, 2012 and twin grandsons.
The family includes; his children, Anne Osburn and husband Glenn, Kenneth Kay Branstetter and wife Jeanie, Sue Branstetter and husband Scott Rudd, Becky Johnston and husband Pete Root, all of Vinita. Grandchildren, Allen Osburn, Shannon Cassity, Sarah Chamberlain, Chris Branstetter, Cache Branstetter, Amanda Cantu, Libby Best, Shane Woodworth, Poppy Branstetter, Gretchen Branstetter, Jeff Johnston, Jacob Johnston, Zachary Johnston, Carla and Jamie Root; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM, in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita, with Pastors John Bechtold and John Bechtold, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Carselowey Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.highsmithfh.com. Arrangements are by the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home of Vinita.
