Obituary for Cora L. Inman

Cora Louise Inman, 97, of Lubbock, Texas (formerly Vinita, Oklahoma) passed away on August 18, 2019.

Cora was born October 6, 1921, to Ella Edith Chamness-Lewman and Oscar Logue Lewman in Liberal, Missouri.

Cora married Ellis Inman, Jr. (“Duke”) April 26, 1941, and they resided on a farm located in Craig County, Oklahoma, where they raised livestock, crops and their son, Bobby.

Cora was a hard worker who took pride in hand-making everything. She found joy in her marriage to Duke; her son, Bobby; being a grandma; visits with family and friends; tending her garden, and sharing it’s bounty with others; being known for her tasty pies; volunteering in the community, especially to benefit children; and sharing the accomplishments of her son, granddaughter and great-grandchildren.

Cora is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sharyle Inman; her granddaughter, Brit Swanson, and husband, Kyle Swanson; and her great-grandchildren, Cameron Swanson and Braeden Swanson; all of Lubbock, Texas.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Inman, Jr., (“Duke”); her son, James Robert Inman (“Bob”); her mother, Ella Edith Chamness-Lewman; father, Oscar Logue Lewman; siblings, Pearl Brietag, David Lewman, Bessie Mae Pond, Edith Wartick, James Lewman, and June Gregory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the City of Vinita’s Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home.

The celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.

Arrangements are under the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service of Vinita, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on our Facebook page.
