Obituary for Glena Johnston

Glena R. Johnston, 56-year-old Vinita resident passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on April 2, 1963 in Vinita, her parents were J.R. and Billie (Kenyon) Doerflinger. Glena was a 1981 graduate of Vinita High School. She had worked at and managed Dixie Finance in Vinita for almost 20 years. Glena had also worked in early childhood development as a teacher. She had a heart of gold, loved people and animals and extended a helping hand to many. Glena liked to go to the lake and watch the four-wheelers and the other activities going on. She always liked going out to eat and a good shopping trip as well.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
The family includes; Her step-father, J. R. Doerflinger of Vinita; her daughter, Krista Holsan and husband Harold of Collinsville; a son, Shaun Johnston and fiancée Mel Tahbone of Oklahoma City; her long-time companion, Dewey Killion of Vinita; brothers, Tony Hooten and wife Joyce of Vinita, Bill Doerflinger and wife Christina of Centerton, Arkansas and Mike Hooten of Vinita.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinita’s only locally owned funeral establishment, the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service of Vinita.
