Obituary for Helen M. Morris

Helen Marie (Hargrove) Morris 88-years-young and lifetime White Oak resident passed away from this life on August 13, 2019. Helen began her in life in Blair, Oklahoma on September 7, 1930. She was the first born to Nolan Ivan and Dena (Cole) Hargrove. The family moved to Delaware Co., OK where Helen began her school career at Buzzard Springs, but due to the creation of Grand Lake the family was forced to relocate which resulted in a move to the Catale community in Rogers Co. She attended Greer School and later graduated from Chelsea High School in 1949. She continued her education at Draughon’s Business School in Tulsa. She had earned a lifetime scholarship because of her excellence in achievement. She met and married the love of her life, Frank (Pike) Lamar Morris on February 25, 1950. They settled into the White Oak area and began their family in 1952. Their first daughter, Lana came along and was the joy of their life for the first 20 months, and then another favorite, Deborah came along and another sweet bundle of joy NaLonnie came along 15 years later. She made many friends when she began to work outside the home in 1966. She worked at the White Oak School where her children attended and later worked at Western Auto, Montgomery Wards, Cinch, and thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Election Board. She continued with the Election Board for 47 years. She loved being a rancher’s wife tending to the land and the cattle. She enjoyed showing her grandchildren how to milk cows, plant in the garden and loved making wonderful meals for the ranch hands. In her later years, she worked as a Senior Companion. Helen was a care giver to many, but mostly to her beloved husband Pike. Helen loved many things, but the top of her list was her Grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She spent her free time sewing, quilting, crocheting and making dolls. Her hands were never at rest. She was preceded in death by her parents Nolan Ivan and Dena (Cole) Hargrove., husband Frank (Pike) Lamar Morris and sister Barbara D. (Hargrove) McMurtrey. She’s survived by her 3 daughter, Lana Helen Daugherty and husband Jay, Deborah Lamar Hopkins and husband Mark, NaLonnie Sheree Thomason and husband Howard, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. (Brother) Bill Hargrove and Carolyn Conlin. (Niece) Barbara Ann Black and husband Don, and Nephew Nolan Hargrove and wife Tara. (Sister in Law) Patty Ann McCombs.
