Obituary for John Henry Hoekstra

John Henry Hoekstra, a 72-year-old Vinita resident passed away on Friday, June7, 2019 at his home. He was born on August 5, 1946 in Tecumseh, Michigan to Roy and Alice Vandenburg Hoekstra. John had worked as plumber and TH Rogers Lumber Company and Midgett Lumber Company. He was married to Anna Faye (Goins) on March 6, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John served his country during the Vietnam era in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by: his wife Anna Faye Hoekstra of the home: children, Brandi Lynn Hoekstra, Toni DeAnn Johnson and husband Ken; brothers, Ross, Mike and James Hoekstra; grandchildren, Missy Ruble of Vinita, Dannie Johnson of Vinita, Jordan Johnson and wife Angela of Vinita, Maggie Proctor and husband Brian of Bartlesville, Jessie Johnson of Vinita, GeneAnn Nelson of Vinita, Garrett Nelson of Vinita, Hudson Nelson of Vinita; great grandchildren, Tristin Johnson of Vinita, David Proctor, DJ Proctor and Brianna Proctor all of Bartlesville.

The Celebration of Life services for John will be held at 5:00pm Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Vinita Church of Christ with Minister Bob Hampton officiating. Arrangements are by Vinita’s only locally owned funeral establishment, Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service.
