Obituary for Kimberly Lynn Wing

Kimberly Lynn Wing, 54-year-old resident of Vinita, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at her home. She was born on October 24, 1964 in Philadelphia, PA to Robert W. and Doris A. (Ramsey) Wing. Her family moved to Oklahoma to the Tulsa area when she was an infant. From the time she was 3 ½ to 7 ½ years old she attended Sunnyside School (associated with the Children’s Medical Center). Kim then attended McClure Elementary School for a year before she moved to the Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs in 1975. On August 15, 1985 at the age of 19, Kim moved to the Home of Hope in Vinita and on June 11, 1991, she moved to the Delaware House Group Home. While at Home of Hope she worked in the sheltered workshop, Shangri-La, Arby’s, Miami Mobile Cleaning Unit, Hope Industries, Oklahoma Leather, Hornet’s Nest Corner Diner, Vinita Daily Journal Delivery, Centsible Spending, and Home of Hope Industries.
Kim lived life to the fullest! She loved to listen to music, sing, dance, color, watch movies and T.V. shows, and play Nintendo Wii. Kim was an avid fan of the OSU Cowboys. Kim competed in Special Olympics in bocce ball and bowling, winning many medals for her efforts. Her family will be forever grateful to her amazing staff and team who assisted and loved her during her full life. She will be missed dearly by her family, her caretakers, and her Home of Hope family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her sister, Christine McCreary and husband David of Enid; niece, Amy Keller and husband Eric of Enid, nephew, Dane McCreary of Alexandria, VA; and great nieces, Madalyn, Abigail and Isabel Keller.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel, with Eric Keller officiating. To those attending the service, please feel free to dress in any color of the Crayola Crayon Box, one of Kim’s favorite things. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Friends may give to Home of Hope in Kim’s memory, at P. O. Box 903, Vinita, OK 74301. Arrangements are under the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service of Vinita.
