Obituary for Ronald "Hoot" Hooten

Ronald “Hoot” Hooten, 58-year-old Wyandotte resident, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1960 in Miami to Weck Hooten and Hazel (Robertson) Stephens. He married Pamela Darlene Smith on October 16, 2015. Ronald worked as a Security Captain at the Oklahoma Forensic Center for the past 9 years. He loved to hunt and fish and was a part of the Pro Cat Anglers. He also cherished and adored his grandchildren. He was best known for being a simple man- what you saw was what you got.

He is preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Lewis Stephens.

He survived by his wife, Pam Hooten, of the home; children Destiny Blaylock of Wyandotte; Jasmine Blaylock of Wyandotte; Heather Griggs (Gaston) of Lamar, AR; Logan Blaylock (Shantel) of McGregor, TX; brother Jimmy Stephens; and nine grandchildren: Gracie, Sadie, Sophie, Maycie, Mia, Garrison, Paislee, Waylon, and Kasher.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Bunker Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Dickerson officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Vinita’s only locally owned funeral establishment, Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service of Vinita.
