Obituary for Kathryn Ovene Prine

Kathryn Ovene Prine, 84-year-old Langley resident, passed away early Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 4, 1935 in Ochelata, Oklahoma to Peter Nicholas Perrier and Hester Mae (DeWitt) Perrier. Ovene graduated from Ketchum High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Billy Gene Prine on February 21, 1953 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Bill was in the military and they lived in many different places, until settling in the Ketchum/Langley area in 1972. She had worked at Cinch Connectors and later She and Bill owned and operated The Dam Stop convenience store in Langley. Ovene was a member of the Otterbein Methodist Church and was involved in the UMW and other church activities. She loved Bluegrass music and clogging. She and Bill loved to go camping and fishing at Pine Creek near Broken Bow.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Joan Carman, brothers, Wayne and Hubert Perrier; daughter in-law Jane Prine and three grandsons.
The surviving family includes; her husband Bill of the home; three daughters, Karen Prine and fiancée Steve Graves of Langley, Rhonda Orr and husband Alan of Cleora, Carol Bogle of Ketchum; two son’s Mike Prine of Ketchum, Eddie Prine and companion Jody Fleming of Langley; sisters, Frances Lane of Vinita and Janie Canada of San Angelo, TX; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; her very dear friend Betty Brown of Langley; also her two dogs Fritzy and Chester.
Friends may come by the Burckhalter-Highsmith funeral home from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday to pay respects.
The celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Otterbein Methodist Church, with Pastor Don Baker officiating, assisted by Dee Anne Grapevine. Interment will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on our Facebook page. Arrangements are by the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Service of Vinita.
